Editor's Note
The Yazı Mosque is documented by the inscription above its entrance bearing the date 1818. This date suggests the building was repaired or rebuilt in that period. However, the view that the now-vanished fountain known to have stood beside it may date to the 16th century indicates that the mosque's original construction goes back to an earlier time. The mosque has a roughly square prayer hall, with a later-added portico (son cemaat yeri) on its north side.
