Serçeoğlu Türbesi

Editor's Note

The Serçeoğlu Mausoleum, or Serçeönü Kümbet, is thought to have been built probably in the 12th or 13th century. From the map drawn by Albert Gabriel around 1927, it is understood to have stood to the northeast of the Gevher Nesibe Hospital, in the western section adjoining İstasyon Avenue. Beneath the photograph taken by Albert Gabriel documenting this structure, the mausoleum was recorded as "the ruins of an anonymous mausoleum."
