Built on a high hill in the Eski Şehir district of Kayseri, the Battal Gazi Mosque is one of the city's most striking structures, with its rich historical past and architectural features. Although it is not known exactly when or by whom the mosque was built, various written sources trace the building's origins to the 8th century, the period when Arab raids reached Anatolia.
