Story
Located in Adana's Seyhan district, the Atatürk House is an important cultural museum that holds the traces of the period when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic, stayed in the city. Built in the early Republican era, this structure stands out with its elegant design reflecting the architectural features of the period. Inside the museum is a rich collection of photographs related to Atatürk's visits to Adana, personal belongings, and period documents. Especially interesting is that among the original documents on display are directives Atatürk gave during his efforts to modernize Adana, which help in understanding the city's role in its 20th-century transformation. Another striking element is that, in the building's restored interiors, the original state of the period's furniture and decoration has been preserved. Here visitors can closely follow Adana's development during the Republican era and at the same time make sense of the legacy Atatürk's travels through Anatolia left on the city. When visiting the museum, we recommend also exploring the nearby historic Sabancı Central Mosque and the old city fabric.
