Editor's Note
He was among the first dervishes to settle in the Ankara region. His tomb is in the village of Yakupabtal in the Cankaya district. This village, on the slope of Mount Elmadag, was at times mistakenly confused in Ottoman records by scribes due to the similarity of his name with Baba Yakup in Polatli, Yakup Dervis in Kazan, and Yakup Hasan in Cubuk. Today we read the Arabic inscription found in the Yakup Abdal Tomb as: "This building was made for the dervish Sinan, known as Yakup Abdal, sultan of the spiritual pillars, in Muharram of 1077 (1666)."
