Kayseri Hanı

Editor's Note

As you proceed from Taşhan along Karaoğlan Avenue toward Hürriyet Square, the first building after Şakir Bey Han (the New Cinema) is the Kayseri Han. Although the year of its construction is unknown, it appears to have been a han built after 1902 in the style of bachelor lodgings (a hostel). On its lower floor were a coffeehouse and shops. Its building was demolished in 1956 during the area-wide redevelopment of Ulus and passed into history. Ankara Hans, Yavuz İşçen, 1992.
