Editor's Note
The Tuzhisar Sultan Han stands in the village of Tuzhisar in the Bünyan district of Kayseri, built along the old Sivas road. This caravanserai was most likely commissioned by the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad, and it is known in particular that the Mamluk commander Baybars used it in 1277. The han appears in both Seljuk and Mamluk-period sources and was an important point on the trade route. It was also recorded in the 14th century by the Florentine merchant Francesco Pegolotti, who referred to it as the "Sultan Han".
