Editor's Note
Built during the reign of Abdülhamid II and used as a stable for roughly ten years, this historic bath is now waiting to be opened up to tourism. Fikret Gürkan, a resident of the district, said that his great-grandfathers, the 'Hayret Ağa' family, played a major role in Bünyan, formerly named 'Hamidiye', becoming a district. Noting that Mukbil Bey was appointed district governor after Bünyan became a district in 1895, Gürkan recounted: "Mukbil Bey, the first district governor of Bünyan, on arriving in the district first had this bath built, along with the minaret of the Grand Mosque, which had no minaret. The bath was built in such a spot that it can be reached from three different neighbourhoods."
