Editor's Note
The historic aqueduct at the entrance of the Kuruköprü neighbourhood in the Talas district was built to connect the two slopes of the valley. Compared with the materials used in its construction, its architectural style, and similar examples, the Kuruköprü Aqueduct probably dates to the early Byzantine period, namely the 7th century. It was built to meet Kayseri's water needs. Water emerging from the village of Gürpınar (formerly Salguma) reached this valley through channels carved into the rock, and from here passed along troughs at the top of the aqueduct to reach the opposite slope.
