Editor's Note
The Ali Kürtüncü Mansion is an important example of civil architecture located on Muammer Bey Avenue in the Tablakaya neighborhood of Kayseri's Talas district, built in 1850. Constructed of ashlar stone, the three-story building carries the plan and features of the traditional Turkish house, while the repairs it has undergone over time have left it bearing traces of different cultures. The mansion's original layout consists of traditional living spaces such as the sofa (central hall), rooms, the tokana (kitchen), the zerzembi (pantry), toilets, the tol-köften (cellar), and the şirane.
