Editor's Note
It was commissioned by Lala Paşa in AH 977 (AD 1569). The mosque has a square plan and a single dome. In its portico (son cemaat yeri), four domes are carried by four pointed arches resting on five marble columns. To the left of the mosque, within a garden, lies the grave of Lala Paşa. The mosque sits within a large garden, and its inscription is to the left of the garden-wall entrance. The building is covered by a dome on an octagonal drum. The prayer hall has a square plan, and the transition to the dome is achieved by pendentives. The walls are built in a brick-banded masonry technique. "Mehmet Paşa built it for God, of hard stone and from lawful means."
