Editor's Note
The Surp Yerrortutyun Church, known locally as the Pinarbasi Church, is a building owned by the Pinarbasi Municipality and used today as a culture and sports centre; its function, however, is largely that of a cinema hall. Whether the church belonged to the Orthodox or the Gregorian denomination has not been definitively established. Indeed, the Haygagan Sovedagan Hanrakidaran (1974-1987, Armenian Soviet Encyclopedia, volumes 4-13, Yerevan) states that, as of 1915, the settlement of Pinarbasi (Azize) was among the Armenian villages within the district of Kayseri.
