Editor's Note
Built in 1892 by the Armenian community in Silvan as the Church of Surp Stephanos, the structure is also referred to in the sources as the Chaldean Church. After the Christian community left the city, the church lost its function and went unused for a long time, serving for a period as the town cinema. In 1992 it was converted into a mosque by the Silvan Municipality and took the name "Municipality Mosque." A comprehensive repair was carried out during its conversion, but no other restoration work is known to have been done since then.
