Editor's Note
According to the inscription on its crown portal, the tomb was built by Sheikh Muhammed in AH 695 / AD 1295-1296 in the name of Seyyid Şerif, a sheikh of the Rifa'i order. In Ottoman-era records the tomb is referred to as the Seyyid Şerif Lodge (Zaviye). A register held in the Ottoman Archives of the Prime Ministry, dated AH 1294 / AD 1877 and recording the accounts of pious foundations in and around Develi, notes that a plot of vineyard in the Çelebi farmstead was endowed to pay the income of the attendants of the Seyyid Şerif Lodge.
