Editor's Note
The Lâdik Grand Mosque, first built in 1290 and among the oldest and most valuable monuments of the region, stands on Cami Sokağı in the Yeni Mahalle quarter. Popularly known as the "Great Mosque," the building is also called the Old Mosque and the Upper Mosque. In its present form the monument dates to the late 19th century; according to the four-line inscription above its entrance, it was renovated in 1895.
