Kemaliye Medresesi

The Kemaliye Madrasa is a work of the Anatolian Seljuk period. Dating to the first half of the 13th century, the madrasa was built by Emir Kemaleddin Rumtaş, the brother of Celaleddin Karatay. From the phrase "may God have mercy on him" in the 1253 endowment deed of the Karatay Madrasa, it is understood that Kemaleddin Rumtaş died by that date and that the madrasa was therefore built before then. Located near the northern foot of Alâeddin Hill, the building stood just to the east of the Great Karatay Madrasa built by Celaleddin Karatay.
