Editor's Note
Faraşa (Çamlıca), the birthplace of Saint Arsenios, lies within Kayseri Province. Today it sits 89 km south of Kayseri and 103 km north of Adana, on the northeastern slopes of Ala-Dağ and along the banks of the Zamantı River (known in Greek as Karmalas). The village was founded within a deep, wide valley that separates the Taurus and Anti-Taurus mountain ranges. Ringed by steep cliffs, the valley can be entered only through six different passes. For this reason, Faraşa has served throughout history as a natural fortress and a safe refuge.
