Editor's Note
Because it lies on a Seljuk-period caravan route, and on account of its materials and technical features, specialists date the site to the 13th century. In addition to reused ancient (spolia) materials, roughly hewn and rubble stones were used in the bridge's construction. While its surface is paved with stone, the arches and piers were built of neatly dressed cut stone, unlike the rest of the structure. The bridge has six arches: semicircular at the edges and pointed in the centre.
