Editor's Note
The Milion is a monument erected in Istanbul during the East Roman period in the 4th century AD. It served as the zero-mile marker from which all distances across the empire were measured, becoming the starting point for the roads leading to the cities of the Eastern Roman Empire after the re-founding of Constantinople.
