The ancient city of Podalia is a small Lycian city whose name appears in only a few ancient or medieval sources. The location of the city was long a matter of debate and could only be confirmed recently. No inscriptions are known from the city area or its immediate surroundings; the city's name appears only in a very small number of inscriptions found in other Lycian cities. Despite this, from the 17th-18th centuries onward Podalia became a settlement whose name was cited, especially in numismatics, ahead of far more important Lycian cities such as Limyra and Myra.
