Editor's Note
The Botter Apartment is a historic apartment building on İstiklal Avenue in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district. It was built in the 1900s by the celebrated architect Raimondo D'Aronco for Jean Botter, the Dutch court tailor and couturier of Sultan Abdülhamid II. Designed to serve as both workplace and residence, it was the first building of its kind in Istanbul and, with its facade adorned with plant and human-head motifs, one of the earliest Art Nouveau buildings in the city.
