Editor's Note
The Feriye Palace (Feriye Palaces) is the former name of a group of Ottoman palace buildings stretching along Çırağan Avenue on the Bosphorus shore between Beşiktaş and Ortaköy in Istanbul. Built by architects of the Balyan family on the shoreline between Çırağan Palace and the Ortaköy Mosque, these annex buildings were called "Feriye" (meaning subsidiary buildings) and housed members of the dynasty designated by the sultan. The deposed Sultan Abdülaziz was moved here in 1876 and was found dead in the palace the same year. The buildings were later assigned to educational institutions and today are used by bodies such as Kabataş Boys' High School and Galatasaray University.
