Story
Inscribed in the historic pages of the Princes' Islands, the Hrisovelonis House stands in deep silence as a monument that transcends the ages. With its stone walls and timber window frames, it offers a fine example of Byzantine-Greek architecture, guarding the cultural memory of the islands at the water's edge. The house was first a safe home for Greek minority families, then grew solitary amid the marks left by historical change. Telling the story of one of the era's most significant social and cultural strata, this place should be visited as much for watching the Marmara through its windows as for sensing the islands' past in the silence within. When you climb up to the Hrisovelonis House, you can fully see the layered identity of the Princes' Islands and how history and geography are woven together here.
