The Magnesian Gate is one of the ancient city gates of Ephesus, located in Selçuk. Dating back to the Roman period, this gate stood at the head of the road leading to the city of Magnesia. Notable for its massive stone construction and refined craftsmanship, the gate is a fine example of the defensive architecture of antiquity. The enormous stone blocks on either side bear witness to its endurance through the passing millennia. Inscriptions found during archaeological excavations reveal the gate's strategic importance and the flow of merchant caravans that once passed through it. As you visit, you can follow the ancient roads around the gate and imagine the lively commercial network and daily life of Ephesus.
