Story

Ayvat Dam Nature Park, in the green heart of Eyupsultan, is a unique place where history and nature come together in harmony. Dating back to the 18th century, this historic dam, with its woodland surrounded by water, resembles a tranquil paradise to the north of Istanbul. An important piece of cultural heritage, this structure survives to the present day as a work of water architecture commissioned by Ayvat Pasha, who was of Albanian origin. The nature park around the dam is an ideal stop for those who wish to explore the rich history of the Eyupsultan area. You can stroll along the lakeside and observe the various bird species that pass through here, especially during the migration seasons. The water management system between Bahcekapi and Ayvat is proof of how advanced the architecture of earlier periods was. During a visit, coming early in the morning is recommended; while the flowers are in bloom and the birds are at their most active, the park reveals its true beauty.
