Story
Cakalli Han stands as a silent witness to ancient civilizations on the hilly lands of Kavak. Located in the strategic position of the Samsun region, this ruin marks an important point where trade routes crossed for centuries. The remains of the structure, built on stone foundations, bear the architectural traces of the Pontic and Roman periods. Long left on mountain slopes that were difficult to reach, Cakalli Han contains numerous finds that could guide archaeological research. The region's old names and map histories document its place within ancient trade networks. During a visit, examining the stonework spread across the western face is valuable for understanding the construction techniques of the era. Visiting in the afternoon, in the hours when sunlight falls on the ruins, is the time when you can see the silhouettes of the structures most clearly.
