Editor's Note
This Ottoman-era fountain in the Rumelihisarı neighbourhood of Sarıyer, adjoining the qibla wall of the seaside Ali Pertek Mosque, is also known as the İbrahim Efendi Fountain. It was built by Rakım Mehmed Paşa, who served as Ottoman treasurer and governor of Abyssinia and Egypt, for the soul of his father, the treasurer İbrahim Efendi. Made of cut küfeki stone, its water still runs; during a renovation it was covered with concrete and its basin replaced.
