The minelayer Nusret is one of the most famous ships inscribed in the naval history of the Ottoman Empire. In the 1915 Battle of the Dardanelles, it secured a strategic victory against far more powerful enemy ships by laying mines. Built in the shipyards of Tarsus, this small but courageous vessel played a critical role in the defense of the strait, carrying mines day and night and saving the Ottoman army. Today, as a museum in Tarsus, Nusret invites its visitors into the depths of history, offering testimony to the seafaring and engineering skill of the era. Walking through the ship's cramped interior, you can feel up close the story of the sailors' bravery a hundred years ago. If you go to Mersin, be sure to visit Tarsus and pay your respects to the legendary ship of Çanakkale.
