Editor's Note
The Midas Monument (Yazılıkaya) stands in the Yazılıkaya neighbourhood of the Han district, about 80 km from Eskişehir; because it sits intertwined with the settlement, the area is known as the City of Midas. The 17-metre-high monument was built around 600 BC. Regarded as lying at the heart of ancient Phrygia, it is the most magnificent of the monuments spread across the wide region known as the Phrygian Valley.
